Radiesse
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is non-toxic, biocompatible, non-allergic filler that is used to reduce the wrinkles and skin folds that appear around the mouth, nose and is also used to fill certain areas of the face. Radiesse is a filler that was formerly known as Radiance and is used to add glow and lighten the face. The effects of radiesse are very popular and can even still be evident two or more years after the procedure has been done.
Before seeking a Radiesse procedure it is essential to know if it is right for you. To have a radiesse done you must be within the age range of 35-60 years. The treatment of radiesse is usually temporary so you should endeavor to have touch ups to maintain the look. There are also about 80% results immediately after the procedure is done. Procedure
The procedure is often done in the doctor’s office and it usually takes about 15mins and there is always the use of local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. You can go home immediately after the procedure is done though you might experience some pain as a result of the injections that you will be given.
To begin the procedure an injection that contains a compound composed of calcium and phosphorous together with some other elements is prepared. These elements come together to form a gel like material. This substance is what the filler is made of. The procedure can be put into 3 stages.

2. The doctor decides the appropriate amount of Radiesse that will be used
3. Radiesse is injected under the skin ensuring that it is beneath the subcutis and dermis layer of the skin.
Risk, Recovery and Results
There are various risks associated with the procedure. Some of these risks include; appearance of nodules, unmanageable pain and swellings amongst other risks. The period or time it takes to recover is between 24-36 hours. There may be bruising and minimal discomforts that can be managed by medications. Your daily routines can be continued almost immediately though you are advised to stay out of the sun.
Results are evident almost immediately most times within the first week. The effects of radiesse can stay for up to two years but will need to be touched up frequently.
